Be the change you want to see in the world...

Synopsis of Us

Lisa is au natural. She likes to have babies at home and drink slimy green liquids with large amounts of earth in them. She loves the quacks and we love her. If you are ailing, just call Lisa. She will doctor you up!

Melanie is a little bundle of energy. She's very peppy and always bouncing around. Do not drive with her. She tends to talk and visit and not watch the road. Cuts a mean hair-do!

Sarah is crazy! She loves Diet Pepsi (too much). The group photographer with many free photo shoots for her friends. Many questionable eating habits that we all ignore, hopefully they don't kill her.

Emily is an overachiever. She never sleeps and wakes up way too early so she can pratice music with her kids. She loves the earthy green drink too. Be careful, she will try to poison you with sugar-free goodies.

Jen is a dental hygienist. If you want to know which kind of gum to chew (to xylitol or not to xylitol, this is the question) she'll know.

Lana is full of crap! Literally, her house is full of crap! Yes, just stuff. If you ever need any random thing, pretty sure it's in her house... somewhere. Very competitive, don't coach children's athletics with her.

Adria is straightforward. She pretty much says it like it is. She is our community sex-ed advisor. Any questions, just ask her, she knows it all.

Marianne (one of the tall, leggy blonds) is amazing! She graduated from college while taking care of her four children and working to save the entire Chinese orphan population.

Marilyn is a perfectionist. She has to have everything at a ninety degree angle, if not, she's nervous. Hopefully this doesn't kill her. Likes to scrapbook, spends a large sum of money on this activity.

Stephanie (another tall, leggy blond) really likes to work out. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Nursing is her profession (not wet nursing).

Oh what a Night!

Off to the movie we went. 27 dresses was such a hit! James Marsden is definitely a hottie! I bet Brek was sorry he was out of town for this night. We had a special guest for the evening - Jenny. She fit in pretty well with the extraordinary housewives. We added one and were down 4 for the evening. That is what happens with busy lives.

We had to stop at Stokes and grab some sugar for the movie. We wouldn't have had to stop if we would have known Lana would be coming late with a PICNIC!

Melanie found a surprise in the car. Whatever it was it smelled like throw up and almost caused her to throw up. She quickly threw it out the door in front of the theatre on the ground and drove off. Feeling a little guilty to leave such a present, Sarah turned around to go get it. We were too late. The owner must have come out and got rid of it. It wasn't until we got to Perkins and Lana was pointing at our car that we realized we never got rid of the throw up bag - it just got stuck in the car door.

Our second guest of the evening was Drew. He works at Perkins but didn't have to wait on us because they were going to close. Congrats Drew. He and his wife are going to be having a baby in 2 days. Cambry Elizabeth! Yes there are fun people in our town!

Yet another Joke!

Beautiful, just Beautiful! I liked that joke, clean and I haven't heard it before. Shocking. Anyway, here's another one for the testosterone on this blog. I can't take credit for it. We got it from Marilyn, but I have shared it with many, very funny... enjoy.
Estate Planning

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father
and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune
when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a
wife with which to share his fortune.

One evening at an investment meeting he spotted
the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Her natural beauty took his breath away. "I may
look like just an ordinary man," he said to her,
"but in just a few years, my father will die, and
I'll inherit 20 million dollars."

Impressed, the woman obtained his business card
and three days later, she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at estate planning than men.

"Hot Guys"

This one is for Brek. Weird request coming from a boy, but he wanted more testostorone, and he said it could be husbands, or any "hot guy" so this is definetely a Hot Guy - Hope you like it Brek!

Jen's Joke of the Day....

This one's for you Brek!
The very first ever Blonde Guy joke......An Irishman, a Mexican and a Blonde Guy were doing construction work on scaffolding on the 20th floor of a building. They were eating lunch and the Irishman said, "Corned beef and cabbage! If I get corned beef and cabbage one more time for lunch, I'm going to jump off this building." The Mexican opened his lunch box and exclaimed, "Burritos again! If I get Burritos one more time I'm going to jump off, too." The Blonde opened his lunch and said, "Bologna again! If I get a bologna sandwich one more time, I'm jumping too." The next day, the Irishman opened his lunch box, saw corned beef and cabbage and jumped to his death. The Mexican opened his lunch, saw Burritos, and jumped too. The blonde guy opened his lunch, saw the bologna and jumped to his death as well. At the funeral, the Irishman' wife was weeping. She said, "If I'd known how really tired he was of corned beef and cabbage, I never would have given it to him again!" The Mexican's wife also wept and said, "I could have given him tacos or enchiladas! I didn't realize he hated burritos so much."...............Everyone turned and stared at the blonde's wife. The blonde wife said, "Don't look at me. He makes his own lunch."

POOP!

I am definitely in for tonights GNO! This is a day in the life of Steph. Valerie has been sick but not with diarrhea (although I am starting to wonder). I changed her poopie diaper and of course she ran away from me - NAKED! This was okay because I needed to go wash my hands due to the extra full diaper. I came back to find her pooping more and stepping in it and smearing it all over the carpet. Off to the tub she went for a good cleaning and back to the carpet I went to scrub. I soon heard grunting and started running. Too late! The tub was full of poop. Now, I have to scrub Valerie, the tub, and the carpet. I have no pictures to post for this moment because at the time it was not that humerous. Don't let me fool you - I am definitely glad to be a mother I just prefer seeing poop in the toilet. (I apologize if this was too graphic for you non-nurses)

We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet

We thank thee oh God for a prophet
To guide us in these latter days.
We thank thee for sending the gospel
To lighten our minds with its rays.

Oh how I loved this man. I am so happy that he is with his wife and free from being old and tired, but I will miss him, the sound of his voice, his great sense of humor and his smile.... He was always so positive and such a champion for women. He also had a way of wanting me to be better and do better. These are a few of my favorite quotes from him:

"Marvelous is the power of women of faith. It has been demonstrated again and again in history. It goes on among us today. I think it is part of the divinity within you."

"Sisters, rise to the stature of that divinity. In that effort make the world in which you live a better place for yourself and for all who will come after you. There is much to do. There are many challenges to be met.
You sisters are the real builders of the nation wherever you live, for you have created homes of strength and peace and security. These become the very sinew of any nation. I bear testimony before the entire world of your worth, of your grace and goodness, of your remarkable abilities and tremendous contributions, and invoke the blessings of heaven upon you."

"Now, my dear sisters, that is the way with you. You are doing the best you can, and that best results in good to yourself and to others. Do not nag yourself with a sense of failure. Get on your knees and ask for the blessings of the Lord; then stand on your feet and do what you are asked to do. Then leave the matter in the hands of the Lord. You will discover that you have accomplished something beyond price."

I know with all my heart that he was a prophet of the living God. He knew that families can be together forever. He will truly be missed.

Jen has something jucier than zits and moon boots!

I'm new to this whole amazing concept of being so concise with communication! I'm going to dive right in because frankly, I've talked to a few of you the past couple of weeks, but when I do I end up on the phone forever! I was hoping word would just get out-but what better way than to hear good gossip straight from the source. No offense to Lana in my title but isn't is about time we had something a little bit juicier to comment about? So Miguel and I after all the good, bad and ugly since May 21, 2006...give or take.... have decided to get remarried. This is partially why I've been a little out of the loop lately, trying to figure out everything, but with confidence I can say I would love to hear from YOU GUYS! It will probably happen in the next couple of weeks-just the kids are invited, and the Stake Pres.-seems like that's what's best for us. Go ahead, digest this and comment away!

It's a Monster!

Today, well, actually yesterday, I woke up with a ginormous zit on my nose. Some of you may think that I've ruined the blog by posting this picture, but I felt it necessary so all could get the full effect of my dilemma. At first it looked like my whole nose was bright red (rudolph) and now it has encapsulated into a nice, large mountain. It really ticks me off. I didn't even get these through puberty. There's really no one to complain to because I promised the zit gods I would never complain again when my face was clear for my wedding. Great wedding pictures, but this is pushing it! Any advice as to how to get rid of it or cover it up. It's very hard to conceal since it is right out there in front on my nose. The red seems to "shine" through the concealer. I have used ice to take down the swelling before, maybe I'll just go stick my head in a snow drift. Pray for me!

Warm Winter Boots

I don't know how to make two picts per post so I'm posting again. I think we should all have warm winter boots for extremely cold days like this. I shopped and shopped and decided we needed matching moon boots. I mean they really are the most practical... warm, cozy, comfortable, inexpensive and you can wear them for all occasions. I mean what more can you want out of a boot? I think I can get these at a discount if I buy in large quantities. Let me know if you're interested. :)

COULD IT BE ANY COLDER?

Honestly it is so cold today. Hopefully no one had to go out much. The kids are out doing the paper route right now and I think it might be considered child abuse. I hope they all come back alive! I made a fire today (see pict.) and watched it burn. What a way to spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day. By the way, why do we go to school when it's a national holiday? Not that I'm complaining, just wondering.

Books

Okay everyone, I know we don't really have time to read but I really need a good book. I need a book that makes you stay up late because you just can't wait to see what happens. I also need to compile a list of my favorite books to share for home enrichment (yes, I am the home enrichment leader). Any ideas? Some of my favorites that I have already read are Sotah, These is My Words, Twilight series, A Candle in the Darkness (set of 3), and the Notebook. What am I leaving out? Tell me some new books that are out there!

Introduction

Well, I guess we started a blog! We're a group of friends that have been together for several years now. We've introduced new people, lost a few, but have more or less stayed the same. There are ten of us that we call the extraordinary housewives. The word "extraordinary" being used very loosely in this case. Between the 10 of us we have 44 children (all under the age of 12) with 2 on the way. Yes, there are many, many children that we take care of. Generally we love them all and so far they are good people. We haven't damaged them yet.
We all love our husbands (each respectively, I mean to each their own) and mostly like to be around them. They are all good people too. I guess extraodinary women attract extraordinary men or is it that extraordinary women MAKE extraordinary men? Either way the men all seem to function on their own. We own an accountant, builder, car salesman, physical therapist, psychologist, lawyer, 2 grocery store owners, and a couple of business owners. They all do okay here in our small community of Burley.
Each of us extraordinary housewives are involved in our church and sometimes in the community (when we see a need for change). We are powerful women that are a force for good especially when we're all on the same page. As a group, we are unstoppable. Needless to say, we really are quite extraordinary.
